About the Trustees: Trustees meet at the library every 4-6 weeks. All meetings are posted and open to the public. The Board of Trustees is governed by a set of by-laws, which are reviewed annually. 5 trustees are elected for 2 year terms to oversee the District. Trustees must live within District boundaries to serve. Elections are held in November of each year.
President: Megan Sylvester (2014-2016)
Megan is a 2001 University of Texas Law School graduate and brings to the library several years of experience working with nonprofits and in government. She has lived in Wells Branch since 2003 and has three young daughters who participate in many story time programs. Megan previously served as board treasurer. She enjoys reading about genetics, short stories, and science fiction. Megan is always looking for opportunities to practice her Spanish and Italian. Email Megan
Treasurer: Jill Traffanstedt (2014-2016)
Jill is a native Texan who grew up in the West Texas town of Abilene. She graduated from UT with a degree in Psychology. Like many UT graduates, she stayed in Austin and bought a home in Wells Branch in 1985, back when Wells Branch Parkway did not exist. Jill was part of the staff that published the first Wells Branch Word newsletter in September, 1985, and she served as editor until 1988. During those early years, she was a member of the Wells Branch Neighborhood Association Board and volunteered for many activities in Wells Branch. Vice President: Faye Cormier (2014-2016)
Faye’s life began in the best of both worlds; born a Texan and raised right across the state line in Louisiana. Life in a small town is much like life in Wells Branch; great neighbors, community tradition and pride as well as the freedom to directly impact community growth and quality of life. Faye currently enjoys a career with a large managed care corporation as medical social worker. Faye’s other responsibilities include her position as the treasurer for the Wells Branch Neighborhood Association, Block Captain for Castle View Drive Neighborhood Watch group, Brown Santa volunteer, Coalition member for Ready by 21/Travis County, liaison for Friends of the Wells Branch Community Library and a very proud past recipient of the “Honorary Reference Librarian” for Well Branch Community Library. Secretary: Ralph Simon (2015-2017) Email Ralph
Ralph was born in Detroit MI but raised in the San Fernado Valley/Hollywood area of Los Angeles. He moved to Wells Branch in 1998. He was the first president of the Brattonwood HOA and is currently an active volunteer with the FOL and the WBNA. He has served on the board and as an officer of many professional, educational, social and fraternal organizations. His career was that of a buyer/ manager for many major retailers, an owner of a small chain of shoe stores and a Series 7 licensed financial advisor. He and his wife have been traveling extensively worldwide the last few years. He is an avid and accomplished duplicate and tournament bridge player.
Friends of the Library Liaison: Wanda Holcombe (2015-2017) Email Wanda
Wanda is a native Texan who was born in East Texas but grew up in Dallas. She and her husband George have been residents of Wells Branch since 2000 upon returning from the Philippines and their work throughout Asia, Africa, Middle East and Latin America since 1970. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Libraries have been a part of her life since she was a young girl in Dallas going regularly to the local library for story time and to check out books. She continued this passion for learning and reading and use of libraries wherever she lived and worked. It was the international community in Wells Branch and the wonderful park that attracted their family to Wells Branch. She loves to travel and recently returned from a cultural journey to China & Tibet. Wanda started the Birding Group in Wells Branch and has worked closely with the Library to host classes at the Library on birding with Travis Audubon Society. She is a member of two WB Book Clubs: Wine, Women & Books and Clueless Mystery Book Club. She loves reading “how to” and history books as well as listening to fiction and mystery audio books as she walks in the park. Wanda served on the WB Board of Trustees from 2013-2014 and looks forward to serving a new term for 2015-2017.
