Frequently Asked Questions

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack is an easy way to keep track of your reading. When you create a Beanstack account for yourself or your family, you’re instantly connected to thelibrary's reading programs, so you’ll get credit for every minute and every page. We’ll keep all your stats for you, cheer you on while you work towards your program goals, and let you know when you’ve earned prizes. When the library’s program ends, you keep your account, and your reading history—it’s always free, and you can keep right on logging your leisure reading. When the next library challenge comes around, no need to re-register—just click on it, and you’re in.

May I add more than one reader to my account?

Of course. You can set up as many profiles as you like, for readers of any age. And if you’re a parent who reads aloud to more than one kid at a time, you can credit that reading time to multiple children’s accounts with a single click—no need to log it in separately for each of your avid listeners.

Which books count toward my reading log?

ALL reading counts!  You don't have to stick to physical books.  eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, graphic novels - it all counts toward your reading goal.  Reading to another person can be counted on both of your reading logs - Parents, reading to your kids counts toward your log as well as theirs!

Do I need a library card to participate?

No, you don't need to have a library card to participate in reading challenges!  The program is open to anyone.  However, if you would like to receive any prizes you earn, you must be able to pick them up at the library.

How do I get more books to read when the library is closed?

The library is still here for your reading needs, even when our building is closed!  Visit our Digital Resources page for information on how to borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines.
