Our volunteers are vital to the library's success.  They perform a wide variety of tasks from shelving materials, to repairing books, to helping with children's programs, and so much more.  This allows the library to do more with the tax dollars entrusted to us.  The contributions you make as a volunteer have a huge impact on our community.  In addition, as a volunteer, you have the opportunity to gain new skills, earn recognized work experience, expand your social horizons, and give back to your community!

Who can volunteer?

Teen Library Council  - Ages 10-18:  Tweens and Teens are invited to join our Teen Library Council (TLC)!  The council meets at the library on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month at 2pm.  Members assist the library by planning and assisting with fun events for teens, making new library displays, recommending new books for our teen collection, and helping out with library projects throughout the year!  TLC is a great way to earn volunteer hours for school while gaining leadership experience and making new friends!  Find out more by attending a meeting or send an email to volunteer@wblibrary.org.

Individual Volunteers - Ages 14 & up:  We have a variety of volunteer roles for teens and adults!  Open volunteer positions vary based on current library needs.  Volunteers are selected on the basis of their application, interview, current library needs, and the applicant's schedule availability.  See below to view current opportunities.
All volunteers must complete orientation & training prior to beginning their service.  Please note that the library does not accept "drop-in" volunteers.

Court-Ordered Community Service:   Applicants for court-ordered community service are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  To be considered, you must reside within the Library District (generally zip code 78728).  If you are unsure whether you are within the district, please contact the library at volunteer@wblibrary.org.
