2022 Trustee Election

Every year, either two (2) or three(3) trustees positions are on the General Election Ballot.  In 2022, there are three (3) positions coming up for election. 

Election Day this year will be Tuesday, November 8th.  Eligible candidates must file a notarized application at the library between July 23rd and August 22nd to be listed on the ballot.  

To be eligible, you must be registered to vote within the Library District boundaries.  Most of 78728 that falls within Travis County is in the district, but not all.  You can contact the library if you aren't sure.

Candidates on the Ballot in 2022:

Abigail Joffrain grew up in libraries, both as patron and volunteer, and in college she worked for several years at the UT libraries. Abbie has a Masters in Linguistics and a Bachelors in both Linguistics and Government from the University of Texas at Austin. She has a deep love of books, libraries and bookstores. Abbie and her husband have lived in the Austin area for more than 20 years and in Wells Branch since 2007, and Abbie has been visiting and bringing her children and her nieces and nephews to the WBCL for more than a decade now. She is incredibly grateful to the library for all the wonderful resources it provides to our community!

Jane Marawar has lived in Wells Branch nearly 25 years with her husband and daughter. She has served as a public school volunteer, church volunteer and voter registrar.  As a child her trips to the local library opened her eyes to new places and cultures and spurred her current love of travel. She is hoping to serve on the library board to continue its mission to serve all members of our community. 

Derek Mahnke is a Michigan native and graduate of Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He's lived in Texas & Wells Branch since 2008 and has been active in the neighborhood since then. He's proudly been involved with the St. Andrews food pantry for the last 7 years and is a senior volunteer and manager.

Jennifer Christmas was born and raised in north Texas; she received her Bachelor's of Business from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. After working 12 years with Ford Motor Company in various marketing roles, she and her family moved to Wells Branch to return to Texas and be closer to family.
