Notary Services

·         Select managers will notarize prepared documents with notarial certificates attached, at no cost. A notarial certificate has places for the notary to sign and place the official seal, like this example:

  • ·         Library notaries will not certify copies, take depositions or create a notarial certificate. This includes hand-written documents.
  • ·         We cannot pull employees from public service desks or programs to perform notary services. 
  • ·         The patron or guest must provide current and valid government issue photo ID at the time of notarization.
  • ·         Do not sign or date the document before the notary meets with you. Library notaries must see you sign and date the document.
  • ·         Library staff cannot give legal advice, which includes any advice regarding the document(s) being notarized.
  • ·         Library staff cannot provide witnesses for documents.
  • ·         Schedules and availability are not set, so patrons should call in advance to ask about their specific document and whether anyone will be able to notarize it today.  Call: 512-989-3188
