Inter-Library Loan (ILL) Services

  • To request an item: Access the Texas ILL System through the library's Digital Services page (log-in required). Search for your desired item, click "Request This Item", and follow the prompts to submit your request. Please note:
    • Approval is not guaranteed. Libraries are currently operating at varying levels due to pandemic disruptions and may not be accepting ILL requests at this time.
    • Items may take several weeks to arrive. Loan period is 2 weeks; renewals are handled on a case-by-case basis, subject to the policies of the library that owns the item.
    • Payment of shipping fee is due when you pick-up the item.
    • Borrower is responsible for any late fees or lost/damaged item fees charged by the library that owns the item.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What happens when I reserve library materials online?
A staff member will pull any items in your request that are currently available. When your items are ready to pick-up, we will send you a notification through your preferred method of contact and hold them for 4 days.
  2. After submitting a reserve, when will my item(s) be ready?
Reserved items that are on our shelves are usually available for pick-up the following day.  You will receive a notification through your preferred method of contact when your items are ready.
  3. What if I miss my pickup window?
If you do not arrive to pick up your items within 4 days of being notified, your items will be made available for other patrons to request and you will need to submit your reserve request again.
  4. Can I pick up items for everyone in my household at the same time?
We want to be certain that items checked out to your account make it into your hands.  Therefore, we do not allow others to pick up items on your behalf.  The person making the pick-up request must be able to come to the library to collect their items, including children and teen cardholders.
  5. Why is the item I returned still on my account?
Items placed into book drops in the parking lot are checked in after library hours. For immediate check-in, please hand in your items at the front desk .  Anything you returned should be removed from your account by the next day (with the exception of holidays).   If you have any concerns about an item on your account, please contact us.
  6. Why is my reserved item not ready to pick up?
    There are several possibilities.
    1. It may be checked out to someone else at this time. You will be contacted when the item becomes available.
    2. There could be a block on your account, or the account of a family member, for fines or overdue items.  The library is not charging fines during pandemic service disruption, but overdue items and existing fines from before the pandemic will block accounts from reserving items.
    3. You may already have the maximum number of items allowed on your account, in which case the system will not assign any new items to you until other items are checked in.
    4. The item may currently be missing.
