[VolunteerMatch - Get out. Do good.]

Our next Volunteer  Orientation is set for  Thursday May 1st 10 am - 6 pm. Interested persons can sign-up at the front desk at any time or contact Bryan at 989-3188.

The Wells Branch Library needs volunteers!

We need YOU to keep the library running smoothly! (available jobs)

It’s a beautiful Library and there is a lot to do to keep services up. There are many jobs requiring varying time and talents that need doing on a scheduled basis. We especially need people:

  • who can put the books and videos out on the shelves

  •  who can work in the book processing area to help get books and videos ready to put out on the shelf.
  • who are willing to help others find books and use the library.
  • to help in the children's library locating books or keeping things tidy
  • with technical skills to help beginners learn to do basic computer work (email, word processing).
  • who can help on evenings and weekends
  • who can help during busy times at the library with circulation/preparation of materials.
  • who can do project preparation
We will give you training. Teens can earn certificates to show they have completed training for future employment.  We can help our regular volunteers with resume creation or even letters of recommendation for scholarships or job hunting.

Special Projects

From time to time, the library hosts special programs or fund-raisers.   If someone can step up to help organize an event, great things can happen.

Who Can Volunteer?

  • Mature & responsible teens (age 14+) are gladly accepted.
  • Adults able to give 2-4 hours/ week.
  • Families can volunteer together.
  • Persons who can do clerical work or phone calls from home.
  • People who are good at working on special events.
  • email us, call or come in to apply.

Library Training

We have a training program that will provide you with knowledge of library procedures as well as solid job experience. The program is divided into levels so that we can be sure volunteers have received proper training before taking on a new activity.

Mostly, we want the experience to be a positive one for you, because then we know you’ll come back and help us again in the future.

Volunteer Coordinator Bryan Forbes

Bryan Forbes is our volunteer coordinator. He works hard to schedule and train people  to do the many tasks that the volunteers do to make the library operate.

Thanks for Your Help!

Thanks for considering volunteering in the Wells Branch Library! We hope to see you in the stacks whether it is as a patron, a volunteer, or both!

If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, stop by and sign up at the circulation desk or send us an e-mail.

Take a look at our super volunteers who put in 191 hours in March! Thanks!!
