Special Events Coming in November

NaNoWriMo

Writing Contest
This year's theme is Weird & Wired.  "Keep Austin Weird" and "Keep Austin Wired" have been two phrases used for years to show pride in our city.  Write a novel chapter (250-1250 words), short story (250-1250 words), or poem encompassing the spirit of those phrases.
Submit your original work to the library with the entry form by November 20, 2010, 8:00pm CST.  One winner will be chosen for entrants under age 18 and one for 18+.

Library Card Design Contest
November 15- December 15, 2010
Calling all Artists!  This is your chance to be famous.  YOUR design could be the new library card.
Pick up an entry form at the circulation desk starting on November 15th and turn it in with your ORIGINAL work by December 15th.  We will be selecting one design for youth cards and one for adult cards. 
scrapbook Scrapbooking Workshop:

 November 13 at 2pm (advance registration required, age 14+)  Please bring your own project materials:  photos, paper, scissors, etc.  Everyone will be able to leave with a completed page with an artistic layout.

yarn Needles, Hooks and Books:  November 14 at 2pm  New Book Club

  Read Jane Eyre and bring your handiwork of choice (knitting, crochet, embroidery, etc) to the meeting to work on while we discuss the book.  You know you always meant to read it (again).   Participants will select the next month's book at each meeting (2nd Sunday of each month).

November 20 at 11am  (age 6+)  Live demonstrations by scientists!  Get ideas for the science fair or just watch for fun.

presents Holiday Bazaar:  November 21 from 12-6pm   Start your holiday shopping locally!

Your friends and neighbors will be offering unique gifts from home businesses.  20% of sales goes to the library.
Registration is still open for tables.  Call Natosha or Etta at the library to reserve your space!
