To use a library computer
everyone is now required to have a valid Wells Branch library card in hand.
The card is free and there are no
residency requirements. All you need is identification with your picture and
current address printed on it. |
Library
receives donation from Wal-Mart.

just keeps buying books! Our focus is on Adults this year.
you will be
pleasantly surprised at the number of brand-new best sellers and
requested items that are now on our shelves. There are more than
30,000 items available now including movies, music, audiobooks,
graphic novels, and foreign language titles.
We also subscribe to more than 40 magazines and 5 newspapers,
many are available to check out.
YOU can tell us which books YOU'D like to see on
the shelves
Our collection
development depends on community input. Do you have a favorite
author? Series? Write it down on the request list at the
information desk or send an
email to staff with “patron request” in the subject line. We
don't guarantee to add everything but we use the list when we buy
books.
We have more
local papers and more magazines.
The library now has the Pfluggerville Pflag and
Round Rock Leader in addition to the Austin American Statesman
and Wall Street Journal. Check it out!

TexShare Policies have
changed.
The TexShare card program is designed for patrons to have
borrowing privileges extended from their home library. The
library only issues (or renews) TexShare cards for patrons who
have had Wells Branch Community Library cards in good standing for
a minimum of 6 months. Additionally, there must be
regular activity on the WBCL card during 3 of the past 6
months to show that WBCL is the home library. TexShare
cards issued at WBCL will expire every 6 months.

check out the past issues of magazines to enjoy at home.

Need to brush up your
skills or learn to use Microsoft Office?
Learn at your own pace in the library. Check out the discs from
the information desk and learn the tricks to make documents and
spreadsheets a breeze.
Did
you know you can tell us which books you'd like?
Not finding the book you want to read? Have great sug-gestions
for a few titles or authors? Write your suggestions on the
clipboard at the information desk or email the staff. We don't
guarantee to add everything but we use the list when we buy.

Thank You!
Fundraising activities during 2005 were successful in raising over
$24,000 in donations and grants to purchase books, furniture and
support computer upgrades. The end-of-year matching program met
its goal of $300 so the library will receive the full $1200 in
matching funds. Thanks to all of our patrons for a great year.

February is Love Your
Library Month.
Add
your heart to our wall of hearts--We’ll have valentines to
decorate (for display at the library or to take home for a loved
one) for $1.
Adopt
a book you love for $5 (whether we already own a copy or not).
Make
an old fashioned valentine for that special someone on February
12th (registration available February 1). $1-2 supply fee. |

Sale! Sept 24, 7am -2pm
Please donate saleable items to our
Garage Sale. Items needed: furniture, small appliances, bikes, lawn
equipment, tools, computer items, electronics, baby stuff, kitchen stuff, books,
videos, kids clothing, etc. Proceeds will be used to buy books for the
library.

Pumpkin
Patch
Thanks to Andy Allen Realtor for more than 300
pumpkins for the community picked up in the library parking lot.
Pumpkin painting in the breezeway was enjoyed by over 60 families
and raised money for more special programs for families in the
future. A great time was had by all. |
Silent Auction
Success!
The Silent Auction raised over $2000
for
new books! Thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers and donors who
made this happen.

Board of
Trustees Takes Input
August 7 the Board voted to support library patrons’ Right to Read and voted
against censoring library materials based on content. A patron/board member
requested the magazine “Out” be removed due to its content..

Designation

the Pooh Visits Library!
A
fabulous program, compliments
of Barnes and Nobel Frontera. Thanks all
who helped. Attendance was reported to be between 80-100 people
for this event!

Wall Mural in
Children's Story Room
The Heart of Texas Tolers are nearing completion on the wall mural
in the children's story time room. The artist's group has painted a
scene to create a "Secret Garden" on the wall including
many animals and flowers. The group has spent over 200 hours on this
project. |

"Young Explorer" computer
Computer will be used in the children's library.
Samsung donates TV
with VCR/ DVD
New 27" TV and VCR/DVD to be used in programs.
Pervasive donates
equipment to the library

Software donated much needed equipment, including tables, chairs, A/V

Donations Total

for 2003
Friends of the
Library donated $9,000 in cash at the end of 2003 for furnishings
and inventory.

Lone Star
Library Grant |
The
Texas State Library provides grant
money
to libraries to use for a designated program or to provide equipment
or furnishings. This year the WBCL chose to provide five custom study
carrels. These are located in the green area of the library. |
