CHESS CLUB
Bring your friends and your board to chess club on Wednesday,
May 14th at 6pm. Beginners and masters are welcome. If you don't
know the difference between a bishop and a rook, an experienced teacher will be
there to help you. If you do know, try to beat him!
This week in Wacky Science:
Wash Your Hands! Do you really know why mom always tells you
to wash your hands? Learn how soap breaks up grease and oil!
This week in Arts and Crafts:
Paint a garden pot – Use
special paints and your own style from stamping to avante guard to bright to
realistic. We will be supplying all paint and using 6” pots which cost $.50
each. If you want larger or smaller, bring your own. Class is limited to 18.

If you've had your card for more than a few years, it will
expire at random some time this year. If you've had your card less than
three years, it will need to be renewed at the three year mark. There is
no charge to renew your library card- all that is necessary is that you confirm
your address and contact information.

MINI-CAMPS!!

Beat the heat and join the library for an exciting summer.
Once again, we'll be offering mini-camps for ages 8-12. Camps will be
Monday to Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. Each session is $24 per child and registration
begins Thursday, May 1st at the children's librarian's desk. Come early as each mini camp
session is limited to 20 children.
June 9th-11th The Grub Club: Let the Travis County Master Gardeners
teach you how to grow grub with just a seed and some dirt!
June 23rd-25th Design It: Find your inner artist with scrap booking,
painting, pottery and more!
July 7th-9th The Great Outdoors: Enjoy a breath of fresh air with
the Lone Star Girls Scouts and the Camp Fire USA as we challenge ourselves with
pup tent relay races and learn how to identify wildlife animal tracks.
July 21st-23rd Music and Dance Camp: Well make musical instruments,
have a puppet show and exercise our performing art talent!
August 4th-6th Sports Fanatic: Test your physical skills with
obstacle courses, kite-flying contests, and more!
August 18th-20th Around the World in the Library: Live the life of a
child your age in a different country! We'll enjoy their music, make a few
crafts and more!
